Title: R&D; Process Technician - Formulation Development
We are currently hiring for an existing vacancy.

Reports to: Manager Formulation Development

The formulation development processing technician assists in the development of new pharmaceutical dosage forms in addition to existing products and procedures. This position works very closely with the Scientists (Senior, Associate), Technical Specialist in Formulation Development to independently execute formulation/process development trials. Thus, performs and maintains all documentation as per current good manufacturing practices. The formulation development processing technician supports the Formulation Development team by cleaning, assembling, disassembling and operating all manufacturing and in-process test equipment as required. Execute manufacturing trial orders following standardized formulas or experimental procedures. Sets up and trouble-shoots pilot laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Provides technical feedback on how the processes ran and suggests ideas how to improve the process whenever required. This position also primarily assists with maintaining and cleaning the pilot laboratory equipment and processing rooms and general facility maintenance.

Key job responsibilities and duties:
Primarily responsible for formulation lab organization, cleanliness, daily verification, inventory and general upkeep.

Ensures all formulations laboratory resources and equipment are cleaned and maintained to an acceptable standard.

Demonstrates and maintains proficiency in the cleaning, assembly, disassembly and use of the pilot laboratory equipment and instruments.

Independently performs and documents detailed physical/chemical assessments during product development trials.

Executes manufacturing trial orders of a range of formulation types using laboratory scale equipment as per scientist’s, associate scientist's and technical specialist's guidance.

Accurately records data from all studies in raw-data records, electronic databases and spreadsheets.





Performs assigned activities in the formulation development area to support the development of current products as per departmental SOP’s and ICH guidelines.

Performs all activities following the principles of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing practices(cGMP), and according to Biolab’s documented procedures, policies and safety standards.

Supports Scientist (senior, associate) providing relevant information and feedback for Departmental SOP's.

Ensures the availability of dispensed API/excipients, utensils and consumables needed to carry out all tasks in the formulation development area.

Expected to provide technical/problem solving feedback based on knowledge, experience and innovative ideas.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and experience requirements:

College degree, preferably in Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Chemistry. A Bachelor of Science would be an asset.

More than three years of relevant hands on pharmaceutical experience in product development or manufacturing.

Demonstrates knowledge and experience of industrial pharmaceutical oral solid dose equipment by successfully assembling, disassembling, cleaning and operating compression machines, fluid bed dryer, fluid bed granulator, tablet coating pan, blending machine, powder and tablet encapsulator, blister machine and roller compactor.

Ability to work independently or as a part of a team.

Computer literacy for the use of MS office software.

Highly motivated and have the skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize the work.

Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills are required
