Job Title: Senior Database Administrator

Location: Montreal, QC

Duration: 6 – 8 Months

Responsibilities:

Performance

Critical SQL queries, execution plans, indexing, stored procedures, functions, views, database objects, and application performance related to access and data backups.

Exploitation

Performance monitoring, capacity management, preventive maintenance, automation, incident management and problem solving.

Resilience

Backup, restore, high availability, business continuity and disaster recovery.

Security and Governance

Access and privilege management, data security, auditing, traceability and good governance practices.

SQL Development

SQL code quality, development standards, data access practices, quality reviews and controls.

Deliverables:

A. Diagnostic Report

· Detailed status of the targeted databases;

· Technical findings;

· Identified risks;

· Prioritization of issues and recommended interventions;

· Following the diagnosis, Client will determine with the Resource the optimizations that will be implemented during the mandate.

B. Optimization Report

· Performance analysis;

· Detailed recommendations;

· Priority optimizations carried out by the Resource or by the organization's teams with its support, according to the priorities agreed with the client; Expected benefits and, where possible, observed benefits.

C. Governance and positive practice recommendations

· DBA best practices;

· SQL standards;

· Monitoring and observability recommendations;

· Recommendations for operational management and maintenance of environments.

D. DBA Operational Model

· Evaluation of the different models that can meet the identified needs,



including internal, external, shared, or hybrid DBA capabilities. Who could to understand:

o Responsibilities of the role;

o Required skills;

o Recurring activities;

o Interactions with the Product, Development, Operations, Architecture and

o Security;

o Capacity requirements.

E. Roadmap

· Priority initiatives;

· Recommended investments or efforts;

· Expected gains;

· Residual risks;

· High-level indicative roadmap.

F. Knowledge Transfer

· Knowledge transfer workshops;

· Documentation produced;

· Coaching sessions;

· Recommendations for maintaining and updating knowledge.

The proposed resource must offer a phased implementation approach.

Requirements and qualifications

Any Resource offered by the service provider, within the framework of this

The mandate must meet the following requirements:

· Hold a university degree in computer science, computer engineering, engineering software, information technology or any other relevant discipline mandate;

· Possess significant experience (5 to 8 years) in administration, diagnosis and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server environments;





· Demonstrate, through a maximum of five (5) mandates completed during the five (5) last five years, significant experience covering the majority of areas:

o administration and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server databases;

o analysis and resolution of performance problems;

o analysis, execution plans and indexing strategies;

o high availability, backup, restore and disaster recovery;

o monitoring and observability of database environments;

o Governance, best practices and SQL standards;

o support for development and operations teams;

o development of strategic recommendations or roadmaps improvement;

including at least three (3) mandates involving mission-critical environments or with high availability.

The proposed resource will be considered an asset if it can demonstrate, in the within the framework of the five (5) mandates presented:

· having participated in at least one mandate involving the evaluation of a model operational or organizational aspects related to database management or to platforms.

· having supported managers or management teams in the prioritization of investments or improvement initiatives related to operations databases.

· possess excellent analytical, popularization, and writing skills reports and recommendations intended for both technical teams and managers.

Pay: $55.00-$60.00 per hour
