Position Overview

The Feedlot Operator is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the feedlot, including cattle care, feeding, pen maintenance, and facility upkeep. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to animal welfare and safety. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with a genuine interest in livestock and agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with the daily care and feeding of cattle.
- Monitor cattle behavior and health; report any irregularities to supervisors.
- Support cattle processing, shipping, and receiving activities as directed.
- Maintain pens, water systems, and feed bunks to ensure a clean, safe environment.
- Operate feedlot equipment such as tractors, skid steers, and loaders safely and efficiently.
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning around the feedlot.
- Follow all biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other feedlot staff and supervisors to ensure effective operations.

Qualifications & Experience

- Previous experience working in a feedlot, ranch,



or livestock environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of cattle handling, feeding, and animal health is an asset.
- Ability to operate tractors and other feedlot equipment safely.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

- Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, walking, and standing for long periods.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and livestock environments.

Reports To: Feedlot Foreman / Assistant Feedlot Foreman
