Experienced Ground Person – Full-Time Permanent

Skyline Tree Service is seeking an experienced and motivated Ground Person to join our team in a full-time, permanent position.

This role is an important part of our climbing crew and requires someone who is reliable, safety-focused, physically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outdoor environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with our climbing arborists to ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, while having the opportunity to continue developing their arboricultural skills.

Key Experience & Skills

The successful candidate will have experience or demonstrated ability in:

- Providing ground support to climbing arborists during pruning and tree removal operations.
- Chainsaw operation, including basic maintenance and safe handling.
- Wood chipper operation, including feeding, loading, and routine maintenance.
- Rigging and lowering limbs safely from trees.
- Assisting with job-site setup, equipment preparation, and site organization.
- Debris removal, including raking, leaf blowing, brush handling, and general site cleanup.
- Maintaining and caring for arboricultural equipment, tools, and vehicles.
- Following established industry safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Working effectively as part of a professional climbing crew and communicating clearly with coworkers.





What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and develop their skills in the arboricultural industry.

The ideal candidate is dependable, works well as part of a team, takes pride in their work, and understands the importance of maintaining a protected and organized job site. Previous experience working around trees, operating chainsaws or chippers, or supporting climbing arborists is required.

This is a physically demanding position and requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

- Some previous arboriculture, landscaping or related industry experience required.
- Valid BC driver’s licence.
- Ability to safely lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and progress within the industry.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
