Spring Creek Quail Farms is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Breeder Flock & Hatchery Technician to help support the production of healthy, high-quality quail chicks. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with animals, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and is looking to build a long-term career in poultry production.
The primary focus of this position is hatching egg collection, while also supporting hatchery operations and breeder flock care. Every day plays an important role in ensuring robust hatchability, flock health, and efficient farm operations.

What You'll Do
As a Breeder Flock & Hatchery Technician, you'll play a key role in the daily operation of our breeder barns and hatchery by:
- Collecting, inspecting, sorting, and handling hatching eggs according to established quality standards
- Ensuring eggs are collected accurately and on schedule to maximize hatchability
- Monitoring breeder flocks for bird health, feed and water availability, ventilation, lighting, mortality, and overall flock condition
- Identifying and reporting equipment issues, alarms, or production concerns promptly
- Assisting with hatchery operations including egg setting, transferring, hatching, chick weighing, and chick placement
- Maintaining accurate records for egg production, hatchery activities, and flock performance
- Performing routine cleaning and sanitation of breeder barns, egg collection areas, and hatchery equipment
- Following all biosecurity, animal welfare, and workplace safety procedures
- Supporting additional farm projects and operational needs as required

Requirements
- Comfortable working around live birds, chicks, eggs, and agricultural equipment
- Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks throughout the day
- Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, animal welfare, biosecurity, and safe work practices in a farm, livestock, hatchery, or similarly quality-sensitive environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in repetitive, quality-sensitive work, including inspection, sorting, counting, measuring, or checking products to consistent standards
- Able to follow standard operating procedures, detailed instructions, and daily schedules consistently while taking ownership of routine tasks with minimal supervision
- Confident monitoring animal health, behaviour, feed and water availability, mortality, and environmental conditions, with sound judgment in recognizing signs of illness, injury, distress, or other concerns and reporting them promptly
- Experience cleaning equipment and maintaining sanitary work areas, including contamination-control, disinfection, hygiene, and sanitation procedures
- Comfortable with humane animal handling and understands how proper animal care supports animal health and production quality
Qualifications
- Previous experience in poultry, livestock, hatchery, agriculture, or farming is considered an asset but is not required
- Experience maintaining accurate production, hatchery, or farm records
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Dependable transportation to and from the farm
- Experience collecting and handling eggs in an agricultural or hatchery setting, including collecting hatching eggs carefully and assessing egg quality through inspecting, sorting, or grading, is an asset
- Hands-on hatchery operations experience, including incubation, egg setting, egg transferring, hatching, chick handling, chick weighing, or chick placement, is an asset
- Experience using counting, weighing, log sheets, computerized records, or production tracking as part of accurate documentation is an asset
- Experience identifying equipment problems and reporting them promptly, with familiarity working around farm, hatchery, production, ventilation, watering, feed, temperature-control, alarm, or other basic mechanical equipment, is an asset
- Experience in animal care, veterinary support, greenhouse, food production, manufacturing, quality control, warehousing, production, cleaning, sanitation, or laboratory environments that transfer well to hatchery work is an asset
- A stable, dependable work history and long-term reliability are considered an asset
