YOUTH WORKER
(Full-time, Permanent Position)
McMan Youth, Family and Community Services is seeking to recruit a dedicated Youth Worker to support youth between the ages of 13-17 who present with complex behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs.
Supporting youth in a specialized community-based care environment, the Youth Worker plays a vital role in ensuring safety, stability, and continuity of care during daytime hours. Working within a therapeutic home setting and guided by the CARE (Creating Conditions for Change) Model, the Youth Worker utilizes a strength-based, solution-focused approach to support the unique needs of each youth. This role helps maintain a structured, nurturing environment built on positive relationships, consistency, and individualized care while promoting personal growth, resilience, and increased independence. Responsibilities include providing direct supervision and support, responding to the emotional, behavioral, developmental, and physical needs of youth, facilitating daily routines and activities, supporting the development of life skills and healthy decision-making, completing accurate documentation, and contributing to a safe and supportive atmosphere. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, empathy, sound judgment, and a commitment to helping youth thrive through meaningful connections, compassionate care, trauma-informed practices, and preparation for successful transitions into adulthood.
Hours of Work: This position works on a Monday to Friday rotational schedule, alternating between 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. shifts on a weekly basis. Flexibility is required, as hours may occasionally be adjusted to accommodate operational requirements and the needs of the program.

What you’ll do:
· Connect with and develop helping relationships with youth
· Support and offer guidance to youth
· Supervise youth in the home
· Complete documentation
· Perform administrative and cleaning duties relating to the operation of the home
· Participate in on-going program development
What you bring:
· Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.
· Six (6) months of directly related experience in child/youth/family work
· Standard First Aid—Level C CPR + AED
· Police Information Check; including Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Children Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Valid 3-year Class 5 driver’s license and current drivers abstract are required and/or a Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle with $2 Million liability auto insurance
· Strong communication and relationship building skills are an asset
· Ability to deal with complex high needs
· Experience with trauma and developmental delays is an asset
· Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and harm reduction practices
· CARE (Children and Residential Experiences) training is an asset
· Desire to see young people succeed
