Job Overview
A reputable and growing commercial electrical contractor is seeking an experienced Licensed Electrical Journeyman to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional looking to build a long-term career with a stable company while working on high-profile commercial projects throughout Downtown Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Our work is focused primarily within the commercial tenant improvement, renovation and retrofit market with other commercial project types in our job portfolio. We are specifically looking for candidates who have hands-on experience working within commercial tenant environments and understand the unique requirements of completing electrical work in active, occupied and professionally managed spaces.
The successful candidate will bring solid technical capabilities along with a team-first attitude, excellent communication skills and a commitment to exceptional client care. Our Journeymen represent the company on site every day, and we value individuals who take pride not only in the quality of their electrical work, but also in the experience they provide to clients, consultants, property managers and fellow trades.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical installations, renovations, retrofits and modifications within commercial tenant and office environments as well as other commercial projects.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications and project documentation.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and identify practical, efficient solutions to site conditions.
- Coordinate effectively with project supervisors, other electricians, apprentices and fellow trades to maintain project schedules and productivity.
- Communicate professionally with clients, property management representatives, general contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders.
- Perform work safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable electrical codes, company standards and site-specific requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized and professional work areas,
particularly when working within occupied or operational commercial spaces.
- Demonstrate respect for client properties and minimize disruption to tenants and building operations.
- Support and mentor apprentices and junior team members when required.
- Take ownership of assigned work while contributing positively to the overall success of the project and team.
Qualifications & Experience
Commercial tenant improvement, renovation and retrofit experience is a key qualification for this position. Candidates should be comfortable working in fast-paced commercial environments where professionalism, coordination and client service are equally as important as technical ability.
Candidates must also possess:
- Valid Journeyperson Electrician licence and be in good standing with the appropriate regulatory authority.
- Ability to travel between project sites throughout Downtown Toronto and the GTA.
- Demonstrated experience completing electrical work within commercial tenant, office renovation and/or retrofit projects, other commercial experience will be considered.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical systems, installations and applicable codes.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Professional, respectful and client-focused approach when working in occupied buildings and tenant spaces.
- Strong work ethic, reliability and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Willingness to learn, take direction and continuously develop technical knowledge.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable access to a vehicle.
Licensing Requirement
Applicants must already hold a valid Journeyperson Electrician licence to be considered for this position. Candidates must be willing to provide current licensing credentials and demonstrate that they are in good standing with the applicable regulatory authority.
Pay: $56.08 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
