Earth Communications is currently looking to hire a field telecommunication technician. We are predominantly a field rental company that provides products such as two-way radios, boosters, repeaters, portable cell towers and peripherals, site lighting, security systems, satellite internet, and TV systems to a diverse client base. We additionally provide services such as networking, cabling, fibre optics/fusion splicing, data, and in-vehicle and building installations. Our ideal candidate will have telecom related experience and willingness to cross train and work with the other products and services we provide supported by a strong work ethic and an eagerness to learn, please do not apply if your qualifications and experience do not match what we are looking for.
Responsibilities Include:
· Installation of radios, cameras, boosters, and safety peripherals in vehicles.
· Installation of field rental equipment including cell towers, boosters, lighting, data systems, TV systems, etc.
· Office networking (field and local) including data systems, network security, VOIP systems, user access controls, etc.
· Testing, inspecting and programming of products.
· Troubleshooting to provide best solutions to the customer.
· Maintain a clean and tidy work setting (on-site and shop).
· Receiving product shipments for the fulfillment of customer projects.
· Traveling to customer locations, within and outside of city limits (some work requires overnight stays out of town).
· Performing routine inspection and maintenance on company-owned equipment, tools, vehicles and trailers.
· Providing excellent customer service.
· Completing dispatched work orders and related job and safety paperwork.
· Full understanding and commitment towards our safety program and policies.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Valid Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract.
· Ability to pass a pre-employment/pre-site access drug and alcohol clearance.
· Ability to pass a basic security clearance.
· Knowledge of two-way radios, cellular systems, VSAT internet systems, computer networking,
· Certification any or a combination of the following would be considered an asset: Communication Technician, Networking Certification, Engineered Communications, Fibre Optics Certification, Fusion Splicing Certification, Electronics Technician training.
· On the job training in the Telecommunications or Networking field (this is not an office/IT position).
· Additional tickets that would be considered an asset: H2S Alive, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Bear & Wildlife Awareness, Pipeline Construction Safety Training, and/or Common Safety Orientation
Skillset:
· Customer service focused.
· Strong communication, problem solving, and coordination/organizational skills.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines and customer expectations.
· Team Player.
· Self-Starter that must be able to work independently.
· High attention to detail and quality of work.
· Experience working with hand tools and mechanically inclined.
· Proficient in computer, smart phone, and basic misc. software use.
· Ability to perform the physical tasks of the position which involve sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting in, working at heights, working on ladders, in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.).
Schedule & Pay:
· Permanent Full-Time Monday – Friday day shift.
· On call schedule rotation to support 24-hour service.
· Occasional Overtime – evenings/weekends/overnight – at times with little to no notice.
· After probationary period employee eligible to join our Health & Wellness medical benefit programs.
· Wage will be negotiated upon experience.
