Fiber Optic Installation & Repair Technician – Winnipeg, MB

4S General Contracting Ltd. is hiring an experienced Fiber Optic Installation and Repair (I&R;) Technician in Winnipeg.
The technician’s primary responsibility will be completing residential and commercial fiber-optic installations and service repairs. The successful candidate must be dependable, self-sufficient, organized and capable of managing a daily appointment schedule without constant supervision.
A company vehicle will be provided for scheduled work. However, applicants must have a valid driver’s licence and their own reliable vehicle to travel to and from the company vehicle or designated meeting location.
Main Responsibilities
- Complete residential and commercial fiber-optic installations and repairs
- Install, terminate, connect and test fiber-optic services
- Diagnose and repair fiber service issues
- Install and replace fiber drops, connectors and related equipment
- Work with AFL fiber materials, connectors, tools and equipment
- Complete MXU and multi-dwelling building installations when required
- Follow assigned customer appointment schedules
- Contact customers and provide professional service while on-site
- Accurately document completed work, materials used and service results
- Maintain accurate records of hours worked
- Manage tools, equipment and inventory responsibly
- Keep the company vehicle clean, organized and properly stocked
- Follow all company and customer safety procedures
- Submit required paperwork, photos and job records on time
Required Qualifications
- Previous fiber-optic Installation and Repair (I&R;) experience
- Experience completing residential fiber installations and service calls
- Familiarity with AFL fiber materials, connectors, tools and equipment
- Experience installing and troubleshooting fiber-optic connections
- Valid driver’s licence with a clean and insurable driving record
- Own reliable vehicle for travelling to and from the designated work location
- Ability to operate a company vehicle safely and responsibly
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to create, follow and maintain an appointment schedule
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Ability to accurately track completed work and hours worked
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- Dependable, punctual and able to keep scheduled appointments
- Comfortable using mobile applications to receive jobs and submit records
Preferred Qualifications
- MXU or multi-dwelling unit fiber installation experience
- Experience with fiber testing, troubleshooting and light-level testing
- Experience with AFL connectors and fiber termination systems
- Experience working directly with residential customers
- Knowledge of telecom installation standards and safe work practices

We are looking for someone who can take responsibility for their assigned workday. You must be able to organize your appointments, arrive on time, complete quality installations and repairs, communicate with customers, and accurately report your work without requiring constant supervision.
I&R; experience is especially important because residential installation and repair work will make up the majority of this position.
