Job Summary

A&J; CPA is seeking an experienced Senior Auditor to join our CPA Firm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, performing, and completing audit, review, and other assurance engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, with a strong focus on non-profit organizations and construction/contracting businesses.

This is a hands-on role within a CPA firm where you will work closely with partners, communicate directly with clients, and take ownership of engagements from planning through completion.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, execute, and complete audit, review, and other assurance engagements in accordance with applicable professional standards.
- Prepare and review working papers, financial statements, supporting schedules, and adjusting journal entries.
- Identify accounting, reporting, internal control, and assurance issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Assess client accounting processes and internal controls and communicate findings to management.
- Manage engagement timelines, budgets, outstanding items, and client deliverables.
- Communicate directly with clients to obtain information, resolve issues, and provide updates throughout the engagement.
- Review work prepared by junior staff and provide coaching, feedback, and technical guidance.
- Assist with year-end accounting adjustments and financial statement preparation.
- Work closely with partners on complex files, technical matters, and client advisory issues.
- Coordinate with tax and accounting team members regarding matters arising from assurance engagements.
- Maintain current knowledge of Canadian accounting, assurance, and auditing standards.
- Assist with other accounting, assurance, and client service responsibilities as required.

Qualifications and Experience

- CPA designation or advanced progress toward completion is preferred.
- Minimum of approximately 4 years of public accounting experience, with significant audit and assurance exposure.
- Strong experience completing audit and review engagements with limited supervision.




- Experience working in a Canadian public accounting or CPA firm is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Auditing Standards, ASPE, and ASNPO.
- Experience with non-profit organizations and/or construction and contracting clients is considered a strong asset.
- Strong financial statement preparation and working paper experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Software Skills

- Experience with CaseWare / CaseView or similar assurance software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with QuickBooks Desktop and/or QuickBooks Online is an asset.
- Familiarity with Canadian tax preparation software is an asset.

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
