Kent & Essex Mutual Insurance is looking for an experienced Intermediate Accident Benefits Adjuster to join our growing Claims team. Kent & Essex Mutual offers a collaborative claims environment with manageable caseloads and strong leadership support, allowing adjusters to focus on quality claim handling.

As an adjuster with Kent & Essex Mutual, you will work directly with claimants, medical professionals, and industry partners to ensure accident benefit claims are handled fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with Ontario legislation. Your work will directly support claimants in accessing treatment, rehabilitation, and recovery following an accident.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and adjust Accident Benefits claims in accordance with Ontario Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS)
- Investigate, evaluate, and negotiate claims of varying complexity
- Determine eligibility and entitlement to benefits and facilitate appropriate treatment plans
- Communicate with claimants, physicians, treatment providers, employers, and legal representatives
- Maintain accurate claim documentation and timely claim reserving
- Manage claim expenses through proactive file management
- Negotiate settlements within authority limits and obtain approvals where required
- Handle files in litigation and participate in mediations, pre-trials, and settlement discussions when applicable

Qualifications

- Minimum 3-5 years Accident Benefits claims adjusting experience
- Strong knowledge of Ontario SABS legislation (pre-and post-2016)
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience (Kinesiology, Health Sciences, or related field considered an asset)
- Experience with case management and rehabilitation planning
- Knowledge of policy wording, coverage interpretation, and claims settlement practices
- Proficiency with HCAI and Microsoft Office




- Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CIP or progress toward CIP designation considered an asset

Compensation & Benefits The actual salary will be determined based on factors including but not limited to, market conditions, relevant experience, job related knowledge, skills, abilities, qualifications, and education.
