About You:
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing month-end close activities, supporting cost accounting and inventory analysis, overseeing fixed assets, and maintaining responsibility for accounts receivable related to key accounts. This position requires a strong accounting foundation, analytical mindset, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and external partners.
Core Competencies:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis – Strong ability to manage month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, variance analysis, and ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Cost Accounting & Inventory Management – Expertise in standard costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing variance analysis, product profitability assessment,
and inventory control processes.
- Account Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration – Proven ability to manage key customer accounts, resolve receivable discrepancies, support collections, and work effectively with Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting
- Execute assigned month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Complete balance sheet account reconciliations within established timelines.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Support external audits and requests from auditors.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
- Ensure timely completion of all close-related deliverables.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Record acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation entries.
- Reconcile fixed asset accounts on a monthly basis.
Cost Accounting
- Maintain and analyze standard costing processes.
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to understand inventory movements and production costs.
- Support periodic inventory counts and cycle counts.
- Reconcile inventory accounts and analyze inventory reserves and obsolescence provisions.
Accounts Receivable - Key Account Management
- Manage accounts receivable activities related to Amazon and other assigned key accounts.
- Reconcile customer statements and investigate payment discrepancies.
- Analyze deductions, chargebacks, shortages, returns, and promotional claims.
- Coordinate with Sales, Customer Service, and Amazon teams to resolve outstanding issues.
- Monitor aging reports and ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules for month-end close.
Other Accounting & Finance Duties
- Assist with tax filings, government reporting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Support ad hoc initiatives and special projects assigned by the VP of Finance.
Recipe For Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation completed or in progress preferred.
- 1-5 +years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience within a Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG), manufacturing, or distribution environment strongly preferred.
- Experience with cost accounting and inventory accounting required.
- Experience managing key account receivables, including Amazon, Walmart,
or other large retailers considered an asset.
- Experience working with ERP systems (Sage X3 preferred).
Extra Ingredients:
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and general accounting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
- Experience with inventory and cost accounting methodologies.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
