Overview

Royal View Church's After School Program provides children in grades JK-6 with a safe, welcoming, and engaging workplace after school. The program places a strong emphasis on sports, recreation, and active play, helping children develop positive relationships with physical activity and discover recreational opportunities available within their community. The program is entirely play-based, with the primary goals being to have fun and build positive relationships with both peers and leaders.

Duties

- Actively supervise children ages 4 and up throughout the program
- Lead and participate in sports, games, and physical activities
- Help plan and facilitate age-appropriate recreational programming
- Encourage children to try recent sports and recreational activities
- Assist with homework, crafts, games, and other enrichment activities
- Create an inclusive environment where children of different abilities and interests can participate
- Encourage teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, and positive social interactions
- Support children's social, emotional, physical, and developmental needs
- Assist with snack time, transitions, outdoor play, and daily routines
- Maintain active supervision and follow all safety procedures
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe program environment
- Communicate concerns regarding children's behaviour, safety, or wellbeing to the Program Director
- Follow and uphold all Royal View Church policies and procedures
- Participate in required training and staff meetings

Required Qualifications

Applicants must





- Have experience working with children ages 4 and up
- Be comfortable leading and participating in sports, recreation, and active play
- Be dependable and able to commit to a fixed schedule
- Have reliable transportation
- Have a Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past 12 months, or be willing to obtain one prior to employment
- Have or be willing to obtain First Aid & CPR certification
- Be willing to follow and align with Royal View Church's policies and procedures

Education and Skilled Background We are particularly interested in candidates who are:

- In positive standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) and/or the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
- Pursuing or holding a degree or diploma in Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure Services, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or Kinesiology (particularly with a focus on working with children ages 4 and up)

Schedule This is a part-time position working 2-4 days per week, with shifts from 2:30 pm-5:30 pm Monday–Friday, beginning Monday September 14th. Applicants must be able to commit to a consistent, fixed schedule of two to four days each week.
