JOB STATEMENT:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Fund Analyst the main responsibility of this position is to support all fund operations for Guardian Capital LP, overseeing administrative responsibilities for the pooled funds, mutual funds, liquid alternative, exchange-traded funds, offshore funds, and the real estate fund managed by Guardian. Key attributes for a successful candidate are supervisory experience, organizational skills, along with expert knowledge of funds.
The position will have numerous tight deadlines throughout the day and manage ongoing projects to support the expansion of Guardian Capital LP retail business with a wide mandate of duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Trade Operations
- Maintain IBOR system (Eagle)
- Maintain OMS system (Charles River)
- Daily custody cash and position reconciliation
- Manage the trade flow
- Maintain and open local markets with custodian
- Calculate hedge ratios
- Review margin or collateral requirements
- Calculate iNAV and associated custom baskets as required
Fund Operations:
- Manage the daily fund operations related to NAV with 3rd party service providers
- Review and authorize fund payments
- Coordinate annual review of MER with the Senior Management team and provide input on estimated MER
- Calculate profitability of each fund and forecasting
- Calculate any management fee rebates
- Calculate and review performance fees or carried interest
- Monitor fund expense and perform quarterly expense analysis
- Coordinate complex transactions and any fund accounting activities
- Periodically update and review operational procedures
- Relationship management with all 3rd party service providers
- Coordinate current fund launches and fund activities
- Serve as a subject matter expert to support internal parties within Guardian Capital LP
- Support prospectus renewals
- Coordinate record keeping for investors
- Coordinate annual audit
Distributions and Tax:
- Calculation of monthly, quarterly, annual fund distributions
- Monitor tax positions related to income and capital gains
- Coordinate annual taxable distributions
- Coordinate annual reporting of T3 to internal and external parties
- Coordinate annual PFIC reporting
- Review T3 returns
- Coordinate HST calculation and blended rates
Financial reporting:
- Responsible for interim and annual financial statements and MRFP
- Support ETF and Fund Facts creation
- Assist internal Guardian Capital LP parties to disseminate reporting
- Assist in fund performance review
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor's degree in Business, or equivalent
- Strong investment fund accounting, custody, and record keeping knowledge
- Strong tax understanding
- Excellent time management and ability to escalate as appropriate
- Considerable industry knowledge
- Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel; VBA and python experience are an asset
- Effective problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as a part of a team;
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines
- Bilingual candidates preferred (English & French)
COMPENSATION :
- The base salary range is expected to be between $60,000 - $75,000, with eligibility for a discretionary bonus.
