The Opportunity:

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a collaborative and strategic senior executive, with policing experience, to lead the Policing and Community Safety Services Division within the Ministry of Community Safety.

Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Assistant Deputy Minister provides executive leadership, strategic direction and oversight for provincial policing, law enforcement services, public safety, crime prevention, and community safety initiatives that support safer communities across Saskatchewan. The Division is responsible for an annual operating budget of approximately $425 million, including significant strategic investments that enhance frontline policing capacity and community safety outcomes.

The Assistant Deputy Minister contributes to the ministry's broader policy, legislative and public safety agenda through strategic advice, operational leadership, and collaborative stewardship of RCMP contract management, First Nations and Indigenous policing initiatives, provincial enforcement and protective services programs, and partnerships with federal, provincial, municipal, Indigenous and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

- Provide strategic leadership, vision and direction for the Policing and Community Safety Services Division in support of government priorities and the ministry's mandate.
- Lead, coach and develop a senior management team while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, inclusion, collaboration and service excellence.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to the Deputy Minister and Minister on complex policing, public safety, Indigenous policing, protective services, legislative and regulatory matters.
- Oversee Saskatchewan's contractual relationship with the RCMP, including strategic planning, service delivery performance, financial stewardship and federal-provincial engagement respecting contract policing and related public safety priorities.
- Provide leadership and strategic input into the development,



implementation and evaluation of provincial policies, legislation, programs and strategies that strengthen community safety and support effective policing and public safety outcomes.
- Provide executive oversight for Provincial Protective Services which delivers enforcement, intelligence, investigative, security and community safety services throughout Saskatchewan.
- Lead strategic initiatives that enhance Saskatchewan's capacity to respond to complex and evolving policing, public safety and community safety challenges through innovation, collaboration and system-wide partnerships.
- Foster and maintain productive relationships with Indigenous governments and organizations, municipalities, police services, police governance bodies, federal and provincial partners, community organizations and other stakeholders.
- Direct the allocation and oversight of significant public investments, funding programs and contracts that enhance frontline policing capacity and community safety outcomes across Saskatchewan.
- Represent Saskatchewan on provincial, national and intergovernmental committees, working groups and negotiations related to policing, public safety and justice issues.
- Ensure effective governance, organizational performance, risk management and stewardship of financial, human and operational resources.
- Model the values of Saskatchewan's Public Service while promoting a respectful, inclusive and high-performing workplace.
