Assoc. Full Stack Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Remote, Vancouver, B.C. Canada · Contract · $34 - $40 hourly CAD

Role Overview:

What you'll do:

- Own problems end to end: understand the real constraint, decide the approach, ship it, and stand behind it.
- Build across the full stack in Ruby on Rails, from schema design through the interface.
- Shape what gets built, not just how. You'll be in the room when we set direction.
- Work directly with product, design, and the people who use what we make.




- Raise the bar on the codebase and on the engineers around you.

What we're looking for:

- 3–5 years building and operating production systems, with solid Ruby on Rails depth.
- Range across the stack: SQL and query performance, background jobs, API design, and enough front-end to finish what you start.
- The instinct to dig. You debug code you didn't write, read the source when the docs run out, and keep going until you understand the actual cause.
- Judgment about scope. You know which corners are safe to cut and which ones will cost you in six months.
- Directness. You'll push back on a plan that doesn't hold up, and you can explain a technical tradeoff to someone who isn't an engineer.
- A track record of ownership rather than assignment.
