Kelowna Unitarians is seeking an Audio-Visual Technical Coordinator to begin in September 2026.

Term of Contract: September 2026 through June 2027. Upon completion of the term, the contract may be renewed, subject to mutual agreement, a review and evaluation of the position, and the employee’s performance.

Position status: Part-time employee with all relevant deductions as per BC Employment Regulations. Three months’ probation.

Compensation: $36–38 per hour, commensurate with experience. The budget for this position provides for up to 86.5 hours for a maximum salary of up to $3,287 over a period of 38-40 weeks.

Hours Required: Hours are estimated at 2.5 per week on weeks when the AVTC is required to operate equipment during Sunday Services or be on-site to provide training or support for volunteers. This includes conducting a brief rehearsal with service leaders either online or in-person as appropriate. The AVTC’s in office services are anticipated for up to 27 weeks during the church year (ending June 25, 2026).

The AVTC will also be available to support two General Meetings, throughout the year, typically October and June.

Additional time is also required, throughout the year, to accommodate communication and tasks which may include,



but are not limited to, preparing documentation, budget planning and video editing.

Organizational Relationship: The AVTC is performance reviewed by the Board of Trustees and will be in regular contact with a designated Board Liaison. The AVTC collaborates with the service leaders, minister, and guest speakers. The AVTC will also work in collaboration with the Office Administrator and Community Development Manager as necessary.

The AVTC will work with the Office Administrator to oversee volunteer coordination and scheduling.

Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a reliable and organized audio-visual professional who enjoys working with volunteers and supporting community events. They are comfortable operating live audio, video, presentation, and streaming systems while remaining calm under pressure and solving technical issues quickly.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

- Experience operating audio-visual systems for live events, worship services, theatre, conferences, or similar productions
- Working knowledge of audio mixers, microphones, loudspeakers, amplifiers, projectors, and presentation systems
- Basic understanding of the electrical requirements and power distribution for audio systems
- Experience operating Zoom video conferencing and live-streaming platforms
- Experience using presentation software such as Google Slides and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Ability to troubleshoot audio, video, and streaming issues quickly and effectively




- Robust organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to train, support, and coordinate volunteers
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance for scheduled services and events

Preferred
- Experience with hybrid events or live streaming
- Experience operating streaming video cameras
- Knowledge of wireless microphone systems
- Familiarity with audio signal flow and AV system configuration
- Experience editing recorded video using basic video editing software
- Experience maintaining and organizing audio-visual equipment
- Experience recommending or specifying AV equipment purchases
- Experience working in churches, community organizations, theatres, or other live event environments
