Schedule: Early morning shifts, including weekends (typical bakery start time to have product ready for opening)

About Us

Columbus Café is a French café concept known for fresh pastries, viennoiserie, and coffee. Our Erin Mills location is looking for a Baker to join our team and help us deliver high-quality baked goods to our customers every day.

Job Duties

- Prepare and bake croissants, pastries, muffins, sandwiches, and other baked goods according to established recipes and standards
- Mix, proof, shape, and bake
- Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure consistent quality
- Decorate and finish baked goods (glazing, icing, dusting, etc.)
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures at all times
- Maintain a clean and organized bakery/kitchen work area
- Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, and notify management when stock is low
- Rotate stock and ensure freshness standards are met
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries




- Follow all recipes and portion standards to control food cost and waste
- Work collaboratively and support front-of-house during busy periods

Requirements

- Previous experience baking in a commercial kitchen, bakery, or café setting is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Valid Food Handler Certification is mandatory.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Comfortable working early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
