The Opportunity: Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll across Sentrex's multiple legal entities throughout Canada. This role performs day-to-day payroll administration, payroll data maintenance, payroll reporting, and employee support while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and payroll procedures.

The Payroll Specialist works closely with the Payroll Supervisor, People & Culture, Finance, and employees to ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately, records are maintained appropriately, and payroll inquiries are resolved in a timely and professional manner.

This position is primarily remote. The successful candidate must be available to attend occasional onsite meetings, team events, training sessions,



and other business-related activities, as required.

A Day in the Life (What you will do here):

- Perform day-to-day payroll processing activities for multiple legal entities across Canada, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Enter, validate, and maintain payroll-related data, including new hires, terminations, status changes, earnings, deductions, benefits information, and other payroll transactions.
- Review and reconcile timesheets and payroll inputs, escalating discrepancies or exceptions as required.
- Process off-cycle payments and payroll adjustments as directed.
- Maintain accurate payroll and employee records within the HRIS and payroll systems.
- Monitor and manage the payroll inbox, ensuring payroll-related inquiries and requests from employees and managers are addressed accurately, professionally, and within established service levels. Escalate complex matters to the Payroll Supervisor as required.
- Prepare payroll reports and support payroll reconciliations, audits, and reporting activities.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including reconciliations, T4s, T4As, T2200s, Records of Employment (ROEs), and other payroll-related documentation.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide timely, skilled, and confidential support.
- Assist with payroll audits, compliance requirements, and document retention activities.
- Participate in HRIS testing, system enhancements, and payroll-related projects as assigned.
- Cross-train in payroll processes and provide backup support within the Payroll team as required.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager

What you need to ensure you are set up for success:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, similar field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 years’ experience in a payroll or related administrative role.
- Demonstrated experience working with HRIS and payroll systems, preferably UKG.
- PCP Certification (in progress or completed) is preferred; candidates actively working toward PCP Certification are encouraged to apply.
- Working knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing,



internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with willingness to learn and ability to request assistance when necessary.
- Strong ability to consistently meet deadlines and prioritize projects.
- Superior interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable performing repetitive, detail-oriented tasks accurately and within deadlines.
- Bilingual in English and French (spoken and written) is required.

- The anticipated base salary hiring range for this role is $70K to $80K annually. The final base salary will be determined based on relevant experience, skills, and internal equity.
