We are actively seeking a Chief Power Engineer to join our team within the Lloydminster Thermal Division. Reporting to the Sr.

Foreman

Operations, the Chief Power Engineer will be responsible for managing and providing operational and strategic leadership for our Thermal Facility. They will oversee and coordinate operational activities to ensure specific tasks are performed correctly, and in accordance with company policy and safety standards.

The Chief Power

Engineer will be accountable for ensuring that the plant is operating in compliance with TSASK requirements as a Second Class rated power generating facility and will provide daily leadership and mentorship towards operational and safety excellence.

The facility is located between Macklin and Kerrobert Saskatchewan. The facility consists of 4 OTSG's, water treatment package, multiple heat exchange equipment, emulsion treatment facility, source water wells, SAGD wells and 10 shift operators. This position is unique where it will oversee all components of the facility.

Responsibilities:

- Ensure compliance with Strathcona HSE standards, regulatory requirements, operating procedures, and approval conditions; identify, correct, and communicate substandard conditions.




- Fulfill all Chief Power Engineer duties and administer TSASK and asset integrity requirements for the facility, including boilers, fired and pressure equipment, OPPSD systems, the Owner User Program, the Car Seal Program, regulatory reporting, and liaison with Corporate Asset Integrity and regulators.
- Provide leadership and technical direction to Shift Engineers and Operations personnel to support protected, reliable, and efficient facility operation.
- Provide leadership and coordination for process, equipment, and production performance by serving as the senior operational resource for troubleshooting, maintenance prioritization, planning activities, and Enterprise Asset Management practices while partnering with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, and HSE teams
- Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operation by optimizing personnel and resources and monitoring operational KPIs for production, reliability, cost, and throughput.
- Maintain current and effective operating procedures and ensure consistent application across all shifts.
- Promote strong safety performance through hazard identification, risk management, inspections, lockout/tagout stewardship, and safety engagement activities.
- Oversee operator training, competency development, and mentorship of Shift Engineers, Operators, contractors, and new personnel.
- Manage shift coverage and staffing requirements to support operational and regulatory compliance.
- Support operational readiness, startup, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and turnover of new or modified assets.

Qualifications Include:





- Second Class Power Engineering Certificate of Competency.
- Minimum 7+ years of operating experience at a SAGD or similar thermal production facility, including exposure to maintenance, automation, asset integrity, water treatment and production processes.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or senior operational leadership role.
- Strong technical knowledge of SAGD well pair operations, steam generation, water treatment, production systems and multi-phase pipelines.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements, TSASK requirements, applicable operating approval conditions and pressure equipment obligations.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex process and mechanical issues and identify opportunities for optimization, reliability improvement and continuous improvement.
- Effective communication, sound judgment, professionalism and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
- Experience with supervisory control systems such as FactoryTalk and DeltaV.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office products and operational reporting and documentation systems.

Work Environment:

- Position based in a plant setting.
- Candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to the area within 100km.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract required.
