About this role cKinetics is hiring a Commercial Lead, Events and Sponsorship (Global) to help build and scale a growing global convenings platform alongside its cCarbon.info market intelligence business. This is a business development, partnerships, and community building role for someone who wants to grow something meaningful at the intersection of climate, markets, policy, finance, and the energy transition.
Through its convenings, cKinetics creates data and modelling driven conversations around the economics, policies, and markets shaping the climate transition. These forums are designed to cut through the noise, bring senior stakeholders together, and support practical, evidence led dialogue on where climate and carbon markets are headed.
Over the last few years, cKinetics has built a strong convenings platform across Canada, the UK, the USA, and India, bringing together senior stakeholders, investors, corporates, policymakers, project developers, and market participants across carbon markets, clean fuels, carbon removals, climate finance, and broader climate transition markets. Flagship convenings such as the Canada Clean Fuels & Climate Markets Summit (CFCM), the Carbon Removal Investment Summit (CRIS) and the India State Climate Investment Forum (ISCIF) have grown significantly, creating trusted spaces for serious dialogue, high value market connections, and forward looking perspectives on the markets supporting the climate transition.
The opportunity now is to take this proven model and scale it into a larger, repeatable, commercially successful global platform. The goal is not only to drive revenue, but also to build a high quality community around some of the most important climate markets.
This is a front facing commercial role. It carries responsibility for commercial partnerships, sponsorships, delegate revenue, strategic relationships, and community engagement across multiple geographies, and for converting high quality convenings into a scalable revenue engine.
Position deliverables
We assess two dimensions and expect evidence of both. One is not a substitute for the other.
1. Commercial track record
- You have carried and met a revenue target in sponsorship sales, partnerships, membership, or B2B sales, and can explain how the underlying pipeline was built.
- You have managed a pipeline end to end, covering prospecting, proposal, negotiation, close, delivery, and renewal.
- You have sold high value event, media, research, membership, advisory, or market intelligence products.
- You forecast accurately and maintain CRM records consistently.
2. Partnership and community building
- You build relationships that extend beyond a single transaction, with partners you have maintained over a period of years.
- You have opened doors with senior decision makers across enterprise, institutional, investor, or skilled services environments.
- You have grown a community, member base, delegate base, or partner network, and can describe the position before and after your involvement.
- You are comfortable representing an organization in senior industry and public sector settings across multiple geographies.
Key responsibilities
Commercial growth and revenue
- Own and grow the revenue line across sponsorship, partnerships, and delegate sales, and build a repeatable commercial motion that scales across events and geographies.
- Manage the pipeline from prospecting through signature, shape the sponsorship prospectus and pricing tiers with leadership, and hold pricing discipline in negotiation.
- Deliver committed sponsor entitlements with the marketing and delivery teams, secure renewals, and pass qualified leads into cCarbon research subscriptions and advisory.
Partnerships and ecosystem development
- Develop and manage a portfolio of partnerships across industry associations, trade bodies, exchanges, registries, media platforms, investors, and adjacent convenings.
- Structure agreements with measurable value on both sides, covering audience reach, co-marketing, content exchange, and delegate or client acquisition.
- Own the relationship between convening cycles, maintain a view of the ecosystem across Canada, the USA, the UK, and India, and advise on where the platform expands next.
Community and convening
- Grow and steward the cKinetics community across investors, corporates, policymakers, project developers, and market participants.
- Manage speakers end to end for summits, roundtables, and webinars, and develop agendas with the research team so that sessions are commercially relevant and analytically credible.
- Build institutional relationships with regulators, agencies, and public bodies as convening partners and speakers, maintaining the platform’s neutral, evidence led positioning. cKinetics informs the market and does not lobby it.
What you must have
- Commercial track record: 5 to 8+ years in business development, sponsorship sales, partnerships, or commercial growth, with a proven record of quota attainment (100%+) and having built and converted a $1M+ qualified pipeline from a standing start.
- High value selling: experience selling event, media, research, membership, advisory,
or market intelligence products rather than physical goods.
- Sector fluency: a working interest in carbon markets, clean fuels, carbon removals, or climate finance, with the ability to hold a substantive conversation with an investor or policymaker about where these markets are headed within your first month.
- Stakeholder range: a record of engagement at all levels of a counterparty organization, from analyst to C-suite, and the judgement to handle public sector and institutional relationships.
- Community building: experience growing communities around sectors, markets, or professional networks, and developing sponsors, partners, and delegate audiences across geographies.
- Operating style: commercially sharp, entrepreneurial, and relationship driven, able to work independently across time zones with strong organizational discipline and a high standard of written communication.
Good to have
- Existing relationships across the carbon, clean fuels, and environmental markets ecosystem in North America, Europe, or Asia.
- Experience engaging government or regulatory bodies in a non-advocacy capacity.
- CRM discipline (Zoho, HubSpot, or Salesforce) and comfort working alongside marketing automation.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Communications, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
What we offer
- Ownership of the commercial and community engine behind a global convenings platform in climate and carbon markets.
- An established brand, a 30,000+ professional audience, and existing market relationships and distribution channels to build on from day one.
- The scope to shape a global community around the economics, policies, and markets supporting the climate transition.
- A defined path into senior commercial or platform leadership as the function scales.
Compensation: USD 60,000 to 150,000 including On Target Earnings, salary dependent on location. Performance based incentives tied to sponsorship, partnership, and delegate revenue.
