POSITION SUMMARY The Coordinator, Communications & Community Engagement is responsible for bringing YWCA Niagara Region's impact, stories, advocacy priorities, and community presence to life through communications, storytelling, volunteer engagement, media relations, and public awareness initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications & Storytelling
- Manage organizational social media accounts
- Develop content calendars and communication plans
- Create digital and print communications materials
- Gather stories from participants, staff, volunteers, donors, and community members
- Maintain and update website content and collaborate on ongoing website improvements.
Publications
- Develop newsletters and e -news communications
- Create and finalize annual report production
- Assist with AGM communications
- Create campaign materials and promotional content
Media Relations
- Draft media releases and advisories
- Coordinate media inquiries
- Monitor media opportunities and coverage
Community Engagement
- Support volunteer recruitment and stewardship
- Coordinate outreach opportunities
- Represent YWCA Niagara Region at community events where appropriate
Advocacy & Awareness
- Support advocacy communications and campaigns
- Create and support all YWCA campaigns – locally, nationally, and globally
- Support communications for the organization's 100th Anniversary
Internal Relationships & Story Collection
- Attend staff meetings and program meetings as appropriate
- Build solid relationships with frontline staff and program leaders
- Gather stories, participant outcomes, trends and impact information
- Translate organizational impact into public -facing communications
Volunteer Engagement
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment, onboarding and communications
- Support volunteer recognition and retention
- Recruit volunteers for organizational events and initiatives
- Coordinate volunteer participation in charitable gaming activities
- Support volunteer engagement for Coldest Night and other campaigns
Charitable Gaming
- Coordinate bingo volunteers, scheduling, and communications
- Assist with charitable gaming administration and reporting
Additional Shared Department Responsibilities
- Support revenue generation, stewardship, community engagement, storytelling, advocacy,
and relationship - building efforts across the department.
- Participate in major organizational events, campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and community engagement activities.
- Contribute to donor, sponsor, volunteer, partner, and community stewardship activities.
- Act as an ambassador for YWCA Niagara Region and Falls Manor throughout the community.
- Participate in charitable gaming and bingo activities through the department's shared coverage model.
- Support implementation of organizational priorities, special projects, campaigns, and 100th Anniversary initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Experience managing social media and digital communications
- Strong writing and storytelling abilities
- Graphic design experience considered an asset
- Knowledge of WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms considered an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Good sense of humor is considered an asset ☺
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to occasionally work evenings and weekends
- Must have daily access to a vehicle
- Ability to work primarily in -office
- Successful completion of a six -month probationary period
WHAT WE OFFER

- Twelve paid sick days annually
