Constituency Director –
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership, oversight and direction for the constituency office, ensuring the effective and coordinated delivery of all office operations, constituent services, staffing, outreach and political priorities. • Provide supervision and oversight of the Office Manager and Parliamentary Supervisor, including establishing priorities, monitoring workflow, providing direction and ensuring coordination across the office.
- Oversee the overall workflow and operational functioning of the constituency office, ensuring appropriate delegation, accountability, coverage and collaboration across teams.
- Provide guidance and oversight on complex or sensitive constituent cases, including managing files directly when appropriate and ensuring appropriate escalation and follow-up.
- Lead key office-wide initiatives and priorities, including but not limited to the federal Budget process, Canada Summer Jobs program and other major government or constituency initiatives.
- Provide workflow support and backup for casework, events and constituency operations, particularly during periods of high volume, staff absences or competing priorities.
- Maintain a solid awareness of current political, governmental and constituency issues at the national, provincial and local levels, and assess how emerging issues, announcements and developments may affect the Member, constituency and office priorities.
- Exercise sound political judgment and provide strategic advice to the Member, identifying emerging issues, risks and opportunities and determining when matters require escalation,
consultation or immediate action.
- Act as the primary point of contact and lead for Ministerial visits to Thunder Bay–Superior North, including visits by the Prime Minister, working collaboratively with the Office Manager and Media and Communications Lead to coordinate logistics, staffing, stakeholders and office responsibilities.
- Lead key constituency outreach and office-wide initiatives, including new citizen outreach, holiday card campaigns and Remembrance Day wreath coordination with regional Royal Canadian Legion branches, in collaboration with the Office Manager and Media and Communications Lead.
- Ensure effective coordination between the constituency office, Ministerial Office and parliamentary stakeholders, as appropriate, while maintaining clear roles, responsibilities and lines of communication.
- Support the Member in managing competing political, operational and constituency priorities, ensuring the office remains responsive and able to adapt to emerging issues and changing circumstances.
- Provide leadership during periods of heightened operational or political activity, including major announcements, visits, elections, emergencies or other circumstances requiring rapid coordination and decision-making.
- Identify operational gaps and opportunities for improvement, and implement processes that strengthen office efficiency, accountability, communication and service delivery.
