Southbridge Health Care LP in partnership with Back In Motion (BIM Health) is currently seeking a Controller to provide leadership & guidance to the BIM Finance team while overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and reporting of the organization. This role will work closely with the Director of Finance and other department managers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, support key operational decisions, and ensure financial processes and issues are addressed in a timely manner.
In Ontario, BIM Health operates in clinics and provides services including assessment and treatment to Long Term Care facilities. They offer a comprehensive approach to patient care which encompasses physiotherapy, rehabilitation, return-to-work programs, and mental health services, tailored to meet the diverse needs of individuals across Ontario. Since 2023, they proudly serve communities through their extensive network of clinics and service partnerships with long-term care (LTC) facilities, ensuring seamless and accessible care.
The successful candidate will work a full time hybrid schedule at the Back in Motion Rehab Administration Office located in Surrey, British Columbia. This position requires reliable internet access and the ability to participate in video calls and team collaboration tools. Standard business hours with occasional need for additional hours during peak periods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the month-end processes to ensure accuracy and compliance including, but not limited to:
- Reviewing financial statements and journal entries completed by the finance team, ensuring these are accurate and in accordance with month-end deadlines
- Reviewing account reconciliations to ensure all data is accurate and all discrepancies are addressed accordingly
- Providing guidance to the Finance team in resolving accounting issues and ensuring day-to-day processes continue to move forward
- Reviewing financial results and providing analysis of significant variances and underlying business drivers
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements, providing key insights and analysis to Upper Management
- Assist with the preparation and review of annual operating budgets, working with different teams to ensure all budget details are accurate
- Lead & provide mentorship to the Finance team to create an setting of learning, inclusivity, and cooperation
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations and ensure issues or delays are addressed in a timely manner
- Ensure clear and timely communication with employees, contractors, managers and other stakeholders regarding financial or payment-related issues
- Identify opportunities and suggest improvements to current processes, controls and workflows to strengthen financial reporting and operations
- Lead discussions with other department leads to cross functionally streamline processes and increase efficiencies
- Participate in the interim and year-end audits
- Other ad hoc projects
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation strongly preferred
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, including experience in a senior accounting, supervisory or management capacity
- Strong knowledge & understanding of corporate accounting, financial statements, financial operations and internal controls
- Excellent problem-solving,
analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions to move work forward
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and experience working with complex entities, locations, programs and cost centres
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly accountable, dependable and proactive with strong follow-through
- Excellent organizational & prioritization skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly MS Excel)
- Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with Sage Intacct is considered an asset
- Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence and reporting tools is considered an asset
- Experience with process improvement, workflow automation and AI tools is considered an asset
