Custom Cabinet & Millwork Installer
Boreal Woodwork – Winnipeg, MB
Reports to: Millwork Division Manager
Works closely with: Project Manager, Lead Cabinet Maker & Cabinet Engineer
Hours: Monday–Friday, typically 7:30 AM–4:30 PM | 40–45 hours/week
Compensation: Competitive hourly wage based on experience + paid overtime + cell phone stipend + mileage reimbursement

Who We're Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Custom Cabinet & Millwork Installer to join our Millwork Division.
This is a skilled position for someone with a strong background in installing high-end custom cabinetry and architectural millwork in residential settings.
The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of:
- Custom cabinet and millwork construction
- Cabinetry installation methods
- Wood products and materials
- Cabinet hardware and specialty hardware systems
- Reading shop drawings and architectural plans
- Layout and installation of complex millwork elevations
- Trim, mouldings, panels and finishing details
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail, communicates well, and can independently take an installation from delivery through final completion. A minimum of 5 years of custom cabinetry/millwork installation experience is required.
The Role
As a Millwork Installer, you are the final step in bringing our custom work to life.
You will take projects from the shop's final assembly stage through installation and completion on site.
You'll be responsible for understanding the design intent, planning the installation, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring our millwork is installed accurately and to Boreal's quality standards.

- Custom kitchens
- Bars
- Vanities
- Built-ins
- Architectural wall paneling
- Custom trim and mouldings
- Other high-end residential millwork
You will work closely with our Project Manager, Cabinet Engineer and shop team to identify issues, solve installation challenges and continually improve how our projects move from the shop to the jobsite.
Responsibilities
- Install custom cabinetry and architectural millwork accurately and efficiently
- Lay out millwork elevations using shop drawings and architectural plans
- Ensure cabinetry, panels, trim and hardware meet Boreal's fit and finish standards
- Plan installations and anticipate site conditions and coordination requirements
- Coordinate effectively with site superintendents, clients and other trades
- Identify installation issues and develop practical solutions
- Communicate site progress, deficiencies and required coordination to the Boreal Project Manager
- Manage installation tools, materials and consumables
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained and in proper working order
- Maintain a safe, clean and productive work environment
- Provide direction and guidance to installation assistants when required
- Communicate opportunities to improve installation, engineering and production processes
Qualifications & Skills The successful candidate will:
- Have 5+ years of custom cabinetry/millwork installation experience
- Have a thorough understanding of cabinetry, millwork, wood products, joinery and hardware systems
- Be able to read and interpret shop drawings and architectural plans
- Be capable of laying out and installing complex millwork elevations
- Have excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of high-quality fit and finish
- Be able to plan ahead and coordinate around other trades
- Be a strong problem solver
- Be comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Be organized and able to manage time and priorities effectively
- Communicate professionally with clients, site supervisors and coworkers
- Be willing to learn current techniques and continually improve
- Have the physical ability and manual dexterity required to safely lift and install cabinets, doors, panels and other millwork components
- Hold a valid driver's licence
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
Tools & Equipment The installer is expected to own a basic set of professional hand tools. Boreal provides power tools, specialty equipment, consumables and tool maintenance required for installation work.
Our Millwork Division also has a dedicated installation van outfitted with power tools, work tables, ladders and other equipment required to complete our installations efficiently.
