Job Purpose
Reporting to the Technical Systems Manager, the Data Management and Integration Administrator works closely with ONE HITS technical, business, ancillary and clinical teams to support both implementation projects and ongoing day-to-day support of ONE HITS' member sites.
The Data Management and Integration Administrator is responsible for the creation of current databases and objects as needed by member sites and the ONE HITS teams as well as day-to-day maintenance of the data repository(ies), regionally hosted databases/data sources and regional reporting platform.
Data Management and Integration Administrator will also provide support for database related incidents and issues, data provision requests, system maintenance, ongoing system optimizations and implementation of system changes required by the members and the ONE HITS teams.
They will also participate in and support regional governance through working groups and committees.
The Data Management and Integration Administrator has an important role to play as a customer service representative building and fostering relationships with our member sites.
Roles and Responsibilities (Subject to Change)
Operational Duties
● Investigate and resolve Data Repository and database issues.
● Manage service desk tasks and tickets, communicate resolutions to end users.
● Intake new requests and triage requests from Members and other teams.
● Work with 3rd party vendors for issues resolution.
● Monitor all data repository transfers and background jobs.
● Manage server and database user/role permissions, access and security.
● Understand the terminology associated with Meditech data structures and SQL.
● Complete Expanse updates related testing and validation.
● Installation of Windows/SQL service packs.
● Work with key users and team members in testing new functionality of the applications when installed.
● Collaborate on policies and procedures pertaining to the privacy and security of the Expanse Data Repository.
● Perform routine auditing checks.
● Perform daily maintenance on indexes, database tuning and performance monitoring.
● Perform SQL database backups and server backups.
● Work with specialty teams as needed, collaborating on data integrity issues, report requests, etc. ● Collaborate on ONE HITS business continuity plans and disaster recovery plans.
● Maintain knowledge of legislation, qualified, hospital and accreditation standards and incorporate into business information systems.
● Attend regional workgroup and committee meetings as required, specifically data governance working group, privacy and security working group, and technical team meetings
Project Duties
● Attend and deliver training sessions as required.
● Lead the standardization effort related to Data Repository structures, SQL objects, reports etc.
● Collaborate with the regional technical team on hardware requirements to support the Data Repository and other databases.
● Build databases, custom defined SQL objects.
● Define and build necessary access groups for the Data Repository and Data Insights Portal (SSRS).
● Participate in dataflow analysis and design.
● Participate in system testing and acceptance events, ensure build is complete and accurate.
● Work with technical teams on meeting any data conversion requirements.
● Participate in project meetings as assigned.
● Monitor and report on project deliverables.
● Participates in workflow analysis and process design.
Education, Certifications and Licensing
● Bachelor's degree in database administration, computer science or equivalent
● Certification in ITIL is an asset
● Certification in project management is an asset
● Certification in change management or continuous improvement is an asset.
Experience
● Minimum of 3 years of Microsoft SQL Server Administration experience.
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology, preference for previous Meditech Data Repository support experience.
● Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years of experience working in a healthcare IT or related environment.
● Proven working experience with Microsoft SQL Management Studio and related tools.
● Excellent knowledge of SQL, data backup, recovery, security and integrity.
● Experience in project management is an asset
● Experience in change management is an asset
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
● Knowledge of IT infrastructure, applications and database administration.
● Strong database administration skills.
● In-depth knowledge of health care and hospital practices, programs, privacy and confidentiality. ● Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and interact positively and productively with teams across organizational and regional settings.
● Demonstrated proficiency with use of tools and technology, such as Office suite applications including Excel, Collaboration suite applications like Google Workspace, Office 365.
● Well-developed organizational, problem solving, analytical, and customer service skills.
● Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver effective presentations to stakeholders.
● Knowledge of and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
● Understanding of ONE HITS Mission and Vision.
● Ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues and confidential information.
● Flexibility and availability to address issues outside of regular business hours.
Working Conditions
● Work from home office environment
● 37.5 hours per week
● Occasional on call, evening and/or weekend work as required
● Occasional travel may be required
