About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. Reporting directly to the Manager of Information Technology, the successful candidate will play a vital role in safeguarding and optimizing Utilismart's internal data infrastructure. This position involves developing and implementing data management policies, maintaining database performance, and supporting the company’s digital growth initiatives.

The Database

Administrator will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our databases, which are foundational to our cloud-based services and customer solutions. The role requires a proactive approach to database health monitoring, security protocols, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to align data strategies with organizational goals.

Qualifications

- A post-secondary degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of skilled experience working with SQL and Oracle databases.
- Hands-on experience with Solaris operating systems and database design principles.




- Industry-recognized certifications relevant to database administration, such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate.
- Strong understanding of data security, backup and recovery procedures, and database performance tuning.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging database technologies and best practices.

Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and enforce data administration policies, standards, and data models to ensure consistency and security across all database systems.
- Lead and coordinate teams of data administrators during database development, deployment, and maintenance phases.
- Research, document, and analyze critical data requirements, collection policies, access rules, and security protocols to support organizational data needs.
- Create and maintain procedures for database access, usage, backup, and recovery to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Monitor and optimize database performance by maintaining, patching, and securing database systems.
- Design and implement utilities and scripts for monitoring database health, including stored procedures and triggers.
- Conduct research and provide expert advice on data collection, security, and system integration to other IT professionals.




- Maintain comprehensive user manuals, technical documentation, and how-to materials for internal reference and training purposes.
- Provide Tier I and Tier II support to internal staff, resolving database-related issues promptly and effectively.
- Support Utilismart’s ISO certification and compliance obligations by maintaining necessary ISMS documentation and adhering to security standards.
