About The Role

- We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead the finance and accounting function for a growing organization. This role will oversee financial operations, lead the accounting team, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

- A key focus of the position will be process improvement and ERP optimization, particularly within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The Director of Finance will work closely with operational leaders to improve transaction workflows, strengthen project cost accounting, and streamline the month-end close process.

- This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a process-improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

- Financial Leadership & Reporting

- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.

- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.

- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and general ledger accounts.

- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Inventory accounting.

- Manage year-end audit activities and work closely with external auditors.

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and internal controls.

Process Improvement & ERP Optimization

- Optimize and improve workflows within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

- Partner with operational leaders to improve project cost tracking and transaction workflows.

- Ensure project costs are accurately captured and allocated before month-end.

- Improve revenue recognition and monthly project revenue reporting.

- Automate and streamline financial processes to reduce manual work and improve the month-end close.

- Develop and maintain SOPs, financial processes, and accountability standards.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis





- Support annual budgeting and rolling forecasting processes.

- Translate operational plans and project pipelines into financial models.

- Analyze monthly results and provide meaningful variance analysis.

- Develop and monitor financial KPIs, dashboards, and management reports.

- Utilize Power BI and Business Central to improve visibility into project margins and profitability.

- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership and operational managers.

Treasury & Internal Controls

- Maintain robust financial controls, policies, and delegated authority frameworks.

- Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements.

- Support banking and lender relationships.

- Assist with debt compliance and financial reporting requirements.

- Identify financial risks and implement appropriate controls and improvements.

Qualifications

- CPA designation required.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- 7-10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.

- At least 2-3 years of direct team leadership or supervisory experience.

- Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly preferred.

- Experience with project accounting, job costing, and general ledger configuration is an asset.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data modeling and Power Query.

- Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools, particularly Power BI.

- Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

- Demonstrated experience improving financial processes and workflows.

- Strong project cost accounting and analytical skills.

- Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership abilities.

- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
