Junior Drafter / CAD TechnicianOverview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Drafter / CAD Technician to join our engineering and design team. This is an entry-level position suitable for a recent graduate or someone with 0–1 years of professional drafting experience who is interested in developing a career in engineering design and drafting.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced drafters, designers, engineers, and project team members to prepare and revise technical drawings and project documentation. Training and guidance will be provided, with opportunities to develop CAD skills, learn company drafting standards, and gain practical experience on engineering projects.

Responsibilities

- Assist with the preparation and revision of 2D technical drawings using CAD software.
- Create and update drawings based on engineering information, survey data, sketches, markups, and project specifications.
- Work under the guidance of experienced drafters, designers, and engineers.
- Review drawings and technical information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Make drawing revisions based on redlines, markups, and feedback from project team members.
- Follow established drafting standards, drawing procedures, file-management practices, and project requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of plans, layouts, details, and other technical drawings.
- Organize and maintain drawing files and supporting project documentation.
- Work with technical and spatial data as required to support drawing development.
- Communicate with engineers, designers, surveyors, and other project team members to clarify technical information.
- Perform basic quality-control checks on completed work before submitting drawings for review.
- Learn and develop proficiency with company CAD software, standards, and engineering workflows.
- Support project teams with other drafting and technical tasks as required.

Qualifications
- 0–1 years of professional drafting or CAD experience.
- Diploma, certificate, degree, coursework,



or equivalent technical experience in drafting, engineering technology, geomatics, surveying, design, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge or experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, BricsCAD, or similar software.
- Understanding of basic drafting principles and an interest in developing professional drafting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical information, drawings, specifications, survey information, or project documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working with technical data and learning new software and processes.
- Ability to follow instructions, accept feedback, and work effectively under the guidance of experienced team members.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks while contributing effectively within a project team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to engineering, construction, utilities, pipelines, civil infrastructure, surveying, geomatics, or related technical environments.
- Previous experience working with survey or spatial data.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, BricsCAD, or other CAD platforms.
- Understanding of coordinate systems, positioning, or survey information is considered an asset.
- Previous technical, field, internship, co-op, or project experience is beneficial but not required.

Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
