Job Overview In this role, you’ll support children through daily routines, play-based learning, indoor and outdoor activities, early literacy and numeracy, social skill development, and positive behaviour guidance. You will work closely with children, families, Elders, volunteers, and team members to create a safe, inclusive, and culturally grounded childcare environment. Some key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Duties
- · Assist in delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate, and child-centred learning activities
· Support children's daily routines, transitions, and care needs in a positive and nurturing manner · Encourage children's growth in language, social, emotional, self-help, and motor skills
· Help create a balanced learning environment that includes indoor, outdoor, active, quiet, individual, and group experiences
· Support children's health and well-being by assisting with snacks, meals, hygiene practices, and healthy routines
· Incorporate Indigenous culture, language, traditions, and teachings into daily programming
· Participate in cultural activities, community events, language learning opportunities, and ceremonies
· Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming childcare workplace while following licensing and safety requirements
· Build positive relationships with children, families, Elders, community members, and colleagues
· Work collaboratively as part of a culturally grounded team while demonstrating reliability, initiative, and professionalism
Experience
- · A valid ECEA license to practice in the province
· Current Emergency Child Care First Aid with CPR Level B · A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
· Experience working in a childcare setting
· Experience working with Indigenous children, families, and/or communities is an asset
