POSITION OVERVIEW The Educator is responsible for providing a safe and supportive setting for teens in the Residence Program. This program offers 14 weeks of family counselling for families experiencing difficulties with their adolescents. This includes an eight-week structured therapeutic program of respite, residential care for the youth (aged 12-17 years).

Responsibilities:

Facilitate psycho-educational groups for teens.

Supervise that daily routines are followed by teens in the Residence, complete daily report forms.

Ensure the completion of Intervention Plans for the teens in the Residence assigned to you.

Record observations in the Family Work Forms package of the database every Thursday evening.

Communicate with other team members by using main and individual logs.

Verify that termination reports of assigned teens are completed in a timely manner.

Perform additional duties as necessary or as assigned.

Participate in bi-weekly team meetings on Fridays from 9:00 a.m.



to 12:00 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Minimum of a CEGEP Diploma in Special Care Counselling or related field.

1 to 2 years of experience working with adolescents.

Experience working in a residential setting is a plus.

Experience working with at risk youth and families a major asset.

Bilingualism is required - Communication skills (both written and oral).

Team player; strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently, yet in great collaboration with colleagues.

Ability to supervise a small number of adolescents effectively.

Pay: $21.22-$27.88 per hour
