- Curriculum-Based Instruction
Weekly ELA lessons aligned with Alberta high school curriculum (ELA 10-1 / 20-1 / 30-1), focusing on reading comprehension, literary analysis, and writing skills.
- Essay Writing Coaching
Guide students in mastering Critical Literary Essays and Personal Responses, using standardized structures and scoring rubrics based on diplomas.
- Textual Analysis
Facilitate in-depth study of texts, including short stories, poems, plays, and non-fiction, helping students understand themes, characters, and rhetorical devices.
- Assessment & Feedback
Design quizzes, mini-assignments, and mock exams; provide individual feedback to help students track their progress and improve writing clarity and depth.
- Differentiated Support
Provide tailored instruction for ESL or struggling students, addressing vocabulary, grammar, and logical flow in comprehension and expression.
- Exam Preparation
Prepare for ELA 30-1 Diploma Exams through practice exams, time management strategies, and answer breakdowns based on official scoring criteria.
- Classroom Engagement
Maintain a supportive and structured learning environment that encourages participation, critical thinking, and respectful discussion of literary topics.
- Parent & Program Communication
Provide periodic updates to the coordinator or parents (if applicable), summarizing attendance, participation, and progress. Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $35.00 per hour
