Our client, a well-established civil contractor with decades of experience delivering infrastructure projects across BC, is seeking Estimators to join their team in multiple locations in BC. With expertise in roadbuilding, earthworks, and complex civil infrastructure, they have built a reputation for delivering high-quality projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates for civil and heavy civil construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to support complete and accurate bid submissions.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to validate production rates, construction methodologies, schedules, and project requirements.
- Develop scopes of work and bid packages for subcontractors and suppliers.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and material alternatives during the estimating process.
- Monitor public procurement platforms and identify suitable tender opportunities.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as required.
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of estimating systems, cost databases, and labour, equipment, and material rates.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- 2+ years of estimating experience within the civil or heavy civil construction industry.
- Field construction experience is considered a strong asset.
- Understanding of civil construction methods, sequencing, and project execution.
- Experience supporting estimates and bid submissions for civil infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as B2W Estimate (or similar), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with procurement platforms such as BC Bid, Bonfire, Bids & Tenders, or similar.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a quick-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Valid driver's licence.
