Job Overview:

Forest View Staining Limited, a well-established exterior wood restoration and renovation specialist operating in the Greater Toronto Area since 2000, is seeking an experienced Renovation Carpenter to join our team immediately on a subcontractor (independent contractor) basis.

This position begins on a part-time basis with a clear pathway to increased hours based on performance and mutual agreement. The successful candidate will primarily handle exterior carpentry tasks, including deck and fence repairs, framing, structural modifications, and related renovation work. Knowledge of wood refinishing and staining is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Important Note on Engagement: This is a subcontractor position. The successful candidate will operate as an independent contractor, invoice for services rendered, and be responsible for their own income tax, Canada Pension Plan (CPP), and Employment Insurance (EI) contributions. There are no employee benefits or statutory entitlements associated with this role. A formal Independent Contractor Agreement will be required. We operate in full compliance with applicable CRA and Ontario regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform high-quality exterior carpentry and renovation work on residential properties, including decks, fences, pergolas, and structural repairs.
- Work safely at heights using extension ladders and appropriate fall protection systems.
- Maintain clean and organized job sites.
- Collaborate with the owner and crew to ensure projects meet our high standards of preparation and finish.
- Participate in on-site assessments and follow detailed project proposals.

Compensation and Benefits:

- Competitive hourly rate equivalent: $28.00 – $32.00 (paid upon invoicing).
- Fuel/mileage bonus: $0.60 per kilometre or equivalent monthly allowance.
- Performance incentives: Up to $4.00 – $6.00 per hour equivalent, based on quality, productivity, and client satisfaction.
- Opportunity for increased hours and rate review based on performance.

Requirements (Mandatory):





- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in residential renovation carpentry, with strong focus on exterior work.
- Comfortable working with extension ladders and at elevated heights.
- Valid Ontario Working at Heights training (CPO-approved).
- Must own a reliable personal vehicle and possess a valid Ontario driver’s license for GTA travel.
- Clean criminal record (subject to standard background verification).
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and maintain professional standards of safety and workmanship.
