Your Opportunity

We're expanding our team of field archaeologists and are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic and motivated, with entry- to intermediate-level experience. Our projects span across western Canada and across industries. Our team comprises archaeologists with diverse backgrounds and experience levels, fostering a supportive and enjoyable work environment aimed at individual growth and development.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates who are interested in a chance to broaden their archaeological skill set and abilities. We're currently hiring contract employees with potential for renewal and advancement to regular, full-time positions for the right candidate.

Your Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of Stantec’s permitted Intermediate and Senior archaeologists, Junior Archaeologists assist with carrying out archaeological field work and reporting under current provincial and professional requirements. This role will be primary field-based and include the following responsibilities, as required:

- Participate in preliminary field reconnaissance surveys and archaeological impact assessments
- Collect field data
- Participate in identifying and recording areas of archaeological potential, archaeological sites, and traditional use sites
- Assist in archaeological monitoring and excavations
- Maintain field equipment
- Adhere to company policies and standards




- Actively participate in Stantec’s HSSE programs
- Your work may also include:
- Travel and shifts ranging from one day up to 24 days away from home; typical work shifts are 10 to 14 days, 10-hour days (overtime eligible). Accommodation and meals/per diems are included.
- Operation of a motor vehicle, including pickup trucks and trailering and ATV/UTV use. Training provided for ATV/UTV use, as needed
- Operation of other types of motorized equipment including archaeological power screens (training provided). Some projects include travel in helicopter and small aircraft.
- Working near mobile equipment and heavy machinery.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
