Field Service Representative
Location: Guelph, Ontario
Salary: $70,000–$85,000 annually, depending on experience
Travel: Fully field-based — approximately 5 days per week on the road
Schedule: Typically Monday–Friday travel; weekends rarely required
Vehicle: No company vehicle. Rental vehicles are typically provided, or mileage is reimbursed when using a personal vehicle.

About the Company Our client is a leading clean technology company that designs, manufactures, and distributes high-efficiency air emissions control systems used to eliminate odors, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).
The company is focused on environmental sustainability, innovation, and delivering effective industrial solutions to customers across North America and internationally.
Position Summary The Field Service Representative is responsible for the successful installation, start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and ongoing customer support of industrial air pollution control systems.
This is a fully field-based position — it is NOT an office or hybrid role. Extensive travel is a core requirement, with approximately 5 days per week spent on the road.
Travel will typically be Monday–Friday throughout Canada and the United States , with international travel as required. Weekend travel is rarely required.
The ideal candidate is technically and mechanically inclined, comfortable working hands-on, willing to travel extensively,
and interested in developing a long-term career with an established company.
Candidates from mechanical/electrical, skilled trades, industrial maintenance, automation, manufacturing, or similar technical backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with customers to coordinate installation schedules and answer technical questions.
- Travel to customer sites to perform inspections, equipment checks, testing, installation, start-up, commissioning, and service.
- Verify equipment installation against P&IDs;, mechanical/electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Commission and service full-scale air emissions control systems.
- Troubleshoot critical equipment, instrumentation, mechanical, and electrical issues.
- Monitor equipment performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Coordinate and manage external subcontractors at customer sites when required.
- Provide in-class and hands-on operator training.
- Provide technical support through onsite service calls, telephone, and remote assistance.
- Prepare explicit, accurate, and professional technical field reports.
- Work closely with Operations, Sales, Research, and other internal teams.
- Identify potential customer opportunities and provide qualified leads to the Sales team.
- Perform other technical and field service duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong mechanical and/or technical aptitude with a hands-on mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally with customers, operators, contractors,
and internal teams.
- Ability to prepare technical reports and clearly document field findings.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, P&IDs;, manuals, and technical documentation.
- Ability to work independently for extended periods while travelling.
- Strong time-management and organizational skills.
- Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable making decisions in the field.
- Willingness to learn new equipment, technologies, and processes.
Education & Experience
- University or college degree/diploma in a relevant technical discipline is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical equipment is preferred.
- Experience in mechanical/electrical trades, industrial maintenance, automation, manufacturing, field service, or similar technical environments is an asset.
- Candidates with limited direct experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong technical aptitude, mechanical ability, and a willingness to learn.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Fully field-based with extensive travel.
- Regular work in industrial, manufacturing, and construction-site environments.
- Exposure to noise, moving vehicles, machinery, belts, and other mechanical hazards.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs periodically as required.
- Must be comfortable working around industrial equipment and following site-specific safety procedures.
- Appropriate PPE, including head, foot, and eye protection, must be used as required.
Travel & Safety Requirements
- Valid driver's license required.
- Valid passport required.
- Must be able to travel throughout Canada, the United States, and internationally.
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements and industrial health and safety practices is an asset.
- Must comply with all customer and site-specific health and safety requirements.
