The Opportunity The Financial Planning & Analysis Associate will work closely with the Vice President of Finance, senior management and operating teams. The role will provide decision support across product costing, customer profitability, financial planning, pricing, production performance and capacity.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to understand how products are quoted, manufactured, costed and sold—and translate that information into clear financial recommendations.

The associate will also help Hofmann use AI responsibly to improve analysis, automate recurring work and give management faster access to reliable information. The position offers strong visibility and the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility as the company expands in Canada and the United States.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct costing and profitability

· Maintain product-costing models incorporating materials, labor, machine rates, cycle times, scrap, tooling, freight, tariffs and overhead.

· Compare quoted, standard and actual costs, investigate variances and improve costing assumptions with operations, engineering and purchasing.

· Evaluate the profitability of products, customers, molds, new programs and capital investments.

· Identify pricing, cost-reduction and operational improvement opportunities.

Sales and commercial analysis

· Analyze sales and gross margin by customer, product, product family and manufacturing process.

· Produce volume, price and mix analysis and explain changes in revenue and profitability.

· Identify margin leakage from material costs, freight, tariffs, production inefficiencies or outdated pricing.

· Support pricing decisions, customer negotiations and commercial planning with explicit financial analysis.

Financial planning and reporting

· Support the annual budget,

rolling forecasts and longer-term financial plans.

· Build scenarios for growth, pricing, resin costs, labor, capacity, tariffs, foreign exchange and capital investment.

· Prepare concise monthly management reporting highlighting results, risks and required actions.

· Forecast revenue, gross profit, operating expenses, working capital and cash flow.

Manufacturing and production analysis

· Analyze machine and mold utilization, capacity, cycle times, labor efficiency, scrap, material yield, downtime and inventory.

· Work with plant leadership, scheduling and engineering to connect operational performance to financial results.

· Support capacity planning across products, molds, machines, materials and manufacturing locations.

· Quantify and track the financial benefits of production and process improvements.

AI, data and automation

· Work with Hofmann’s internal AI and analytical systems to improve costing, forecasting, variance analysis and reporting.

· Automate repeatable finance and operational analysis while maintaining appropriate controls and human review.

· Develop Power BI dashboards and reusable datasets that connect financial, sales and production information.

· Validate AI-generated analysis and ensure conclusions are traceable to reliable source data.

· Identify opportunities to replace manual spreadsheets and reporting processes with controlled, scalable solutions.

QualificationsRequired

· Chartered Professional Accountant designation.

· Approximately three to six years of progressive finance, accounting or FP&A; experience.

· Strong understanding of product costing, management accounting and financial analysis.

· Advanced Excel and financial-modeling skills.

· Demonstrated ability to use AI tools effectively in professional analytical work.

· Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail and communication skills.

· Ability to work effectively with executives, sales teams, engineers and manufacturing personnel.

· Willingness to spend time in the plant and understand the operational drivers behind the numbers.

Preferred

· Experience in manufacturing, packaging, plastics or another process-oriented industry.

· Experience with standard costing, inventory, production variances, bills of material and manufacturing overhead.

· Power BI, SQL, Python, API or workflow-automation experience.

· Experience with production capacity, material yield, scrap or machine-performance analysis.

· Exposure to cross-border operations, tariffs, foreign exchange or U.S. expansion.

What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will help Hofmann:

· Improve the accuracy and transparency of product costing.

· Establish reliable customer and product profitability reporting.

· Strengthen budgeting, forecasting and management reporting.

· Connect production performance to financial outcomes.

· Improve capacity, pricing and investment decisions.

· Automate recurring analysis through controlled AI-enabled workflows.
