Key Responsibilities

- Finance Set-up & Process Design — Build the local finance function from the ground up: design and document the accounting workflow, approval matrix and authorisation limits. Drive the roll-out of finance systems and tools, and continuously improve process efficiency as the business scales.
- Accounting & Financial Reporting — Own full-cycle accounting — accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, accruals, fixed assets, month-end and year-end close, and account reconciliations.
- Treasury Management & Fund Flow Risk Control — Execute payment runs, EFT and wire transfers; prepare cash reports and cash flow forecasts; Monitor fund flows across all accounts, enforce segregation of duties in the payment process, identify and prevent misappropriation and money laundering risk, escalate anomalies promptly and cooperate with any related enquiries and investigations.
- Expense, Reimbursement & Accounts Payable — Own the local travel and expense policy and the end-to-end reimbursement workflow. Manage vendor onboarding and master data, invoice verification and matching, and the payment cycle; monitor AP ageing and payment terms, and review commercial contracts from a finance perspective.




- Budgeting & Business Analysis — Lead the annual budget and monthly rolling forecast; deliver variance analysis, cost control and operating analysis, including headcount and departmental cost reporting. Submit management reports and analytical data on a regular basis and provide ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions.
- External Providers & Cross-functional Support — Select and manage external finance service providers and banking partners, monitoring service quality, cost and delivery timelines. Act as the local finance point of contact and partner with HR, Legal and business teams on finance-related matters.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management or a related field; skilled accounting designation preferred.
- 5+ years of Canadian finance experience with hands-on full-cycle accounting ownership;

experience in a start up environment; financial services or fintech background and familiarity with listed-company audit and internal control are strong advantages.

- Solid command of local accounting standards and financial reporting; advanced Excel;
- Robust capability in financial risk identification and prevention with a clear internal control mindset; able to operate independently as a one-person finance function.
