Position Summary
Canadian North is seeking professional, safety-focused, and customer-oriented pilots to join our Boeing 737 flight operations team as a First Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to fly modern Boeing 737 aircraft while supporting essential passenger and cargo services connecting Canada's North with our major southern gateways of Edmonton and Ottawa. As a First Officer, you will play a critical role in delivering safe, reliable, and productive operations across a diverse route network. Working alongside experienced Captains and an industry-leading operational team, you will contribute to our mission of connecting people, communities, and businesses throughout Canada's North and beyond.
Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the Boeing 737 First Officer is responsible for assisting the Captain in the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, customer service, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain in the safe operation of Boeing 737 aircraft in accordance with company policies, SOPs, and Transport Canada regulations;
- Conduct thorough flight planning, fuel planning, and operational risk assessments;
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety and security procedures;
- Maintain a high level of situational awareness and practice threat and error management as well as crew resource management (CRM);
- Complete all required flight documentation accurately and professionally;
- Deliver exceptional customer service while representing Canadian North's values and culture;
- Participate in recurrent training, proficiency checks, and company safety initiatives;
- Support a positive and collaborative flight deck environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1,500 hours total time;
- Valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL)
or Commercial Pilot License with IATRA or ATPL exams;
- Valid Category 1 Medical Certificate;
- Group 1 Instrument Rating;
- Legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Current valid Canadian passport;
- All required visas or travel documents allowing you to freely travel unrestricted;
- English language proficiency in accordance with Transport Canada requirements;
- Strong communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills;
- Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating transport-category aircraft under CARs Subpart 705;
- Multi-crew, multi-engine turbine experience;
- Experience operating in northern, remote, or challenging weather environments;
- Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset.
