Responsibilities
- Safely operate flatbed trucks to transport freight over long and short distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Secure cargo properly using straps, chains, and other equipment to prevent shifting or damage during transit
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load security
- Assist with loading and unloading freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, inspection reports, and freight documentation for compliance purposes
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers,
customers, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability throughout shifts
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial truck driver operating flatbed or similar heavy-duty vehicles
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Familiarity with freight handling procedures and securing loads on flatbeds
- Hands-on experience operating forklifts or other heavy equipment preferred
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics to perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs
- Ability to follow safety protocols diligently while managing freight logistics in various environments
