Steele Hotels is looking for a Front Desk Supervisor to join our team at the Glynmill Inn in Corner Brook, NL. The ideal candidate will possess a positive “can-do” attitude and a high level of professionalism, coupled with robust leadership, critical thinking, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

The Front Desk Supervisor oversees day-to-day Front Desk operations, provides leadership and direction to the Front Desk team, and ensures a high standard of guest service. This is a hands-on supervisory position, and the successful candidate will also perform Front Desk Agent duties and provide operational coverage as required.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Front Desk to ensure efficient service, compliance with hotel procedures, and a positive guest experience.
- Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and support to Front Desk employees and promote a positive and professional team environment.
- Assist with the recruitment, orientation, training, performance management, and scheduling of Front Desk employees in consultation with the General Manager.
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and Front Desk coverage based on occupancy, business levels, and operational requirements.
- Perform Front Desk Agent duties as required, including night audit if short-staffed
- Oversee check-in and check-out procedures and ensure all financial transactions, cash handling, and account reconciliation are completed accurately and in accordance with hotel procedures.
- Monitor reservations, room assignments, special requests, group arrivals, and other front office activities to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Respond to guest concerns, complaints, requests, and emergencies in a professional and timely manner,



escalating issues to the General Manager when appropriate.
- Oversee third-party reservations and commission reconciliation
- Assist with group bookings, tour groups, corporate accounts, and special events as required.
- Communicate effectively with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, and other departments to ensure guest needs and operational requirements are addressed.
- Assist with daily reporting, forecasting, occupancy information, and other front office administrative duties.
- Assist the General Manager with monitoring Front Desk performance, identifying operational concerns, and implementing improvements.
- Act as Manager on Duty when assigned or when the General Manager is not on site, providing leadership and support to hotel staff and responding to guest or operational issues.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

- Minimum of 2–3 years of hotel Front Desk or hospitality experience, with previous supervisory or leadership experience considered an asset.
- Experience with cash handling, financial reconciliation, reservations, and front office procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Solid leadership, supervisory, coaching, team-building and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational, time management,



and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions and handle guest concerns professionally, including when management is not immediately available.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and prioritize in a rapid-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn and effectively use hotel property management and reservation systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts as required.
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Screening Certificate.
