We are currently seeking a Full-Time Pastry Chef to join our culinary team at The Journey Club within the beautiful lakeside community of Westman Village in Mahogany.
A Journey Club Pastry Chef works with a kitchen team dedicated to developing and actioning a variety of recipes for our resident base. Our goal is to lead the way in terms of Senior Living culinary arts by consistently diversifying the menu’s provided and adapting to dietary & health requests on an as-needed basis.

A day in the life of a Pastry Chef at the Journey Club:
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and baking equipment.
- Prepare ingredients for baking and dessert production.
- Produce daily desserts, pastries, cakes, cookies, pies, breads, and specialty baked goods.
- Follow established recipes, portioning, and presentation standards.
- Decorate and finish desserts for daily service, special events, and catering functions.
- Prepare plated desserts for resident dining and special functions.
- Ensure great presentation by garnishing and plating desserts before service.
- Assist with menu preparation and special event dessert production.
- Support meal preparation and cook duties as required.
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the pastry and production areas.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
- Check quality and freshness of ingredients.
- Monitor inventory levels of baking ingredients and supplies.
- Place orders and advise management when shortages occur.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with special dietary dessert preparation including diabetic-friendly, texture-modified, and allergen-sensitive options.
What you bring to the table:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker, or Cook with pastry experience.
- Experience using commercial baking equipment and kitchen tools.
- Knowledge of baking techniques, pastry production, and dessert decoration.
- Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and production schedules.
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures.
- Food Protected Certificate.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Very good communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Diploma from a Culinary, Baking, or Pastry Arts program will be an advantage.
- A current and clear Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
