Position Summary:

As a Driver/Collector at Acorn Waste Service, you will play a key role in the daily collection of waste materials from residential and commercial locations. This is a physically demanding, hands-on position that requires a robust work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

- Start Time: Begin work at 6:30 AM and finish once the assigned route is completed.
- Pre-Trip Inspection: Complete a thorough pre-trip inspection in accordance with Acorn Waste Service and Ministry of Transportation standards.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic vehicle maintenance such as greasing, topping up fluids, and reporting any required mechanical work.
- Route Compliance: Follow the route as assigned unless a change is approved by the Operations Manager.
- Unit-to-Unit Collection: Drive door-to-door to collect materials weighing up to 50 lbs individually.
- Large Item Pickup: Handle larger items such as mattresses and couches; contact the Operations Manager if assistance is needed.
- Bin Servicing: Move totes and plastic bins to and from the truck; operate the tote lifter and return bins to their original locations.
- Site Cleanliness: Ensure all collection sites are clean and free of debris before leaving the location.




- Team Collaboration: Assist team members and accept additional calls to ensure all routes are completed efficiently.
- Dumping & Cleaning: Empty and clean your truck throughout and at the end of the route.
- Refueling: Refuel the truck at the end of every shift.
- Post-Trip Inspection: Complete a post-trip inspection in line with Acorn Waste Service and Ministry of Transportation requirements.
- Training Compliance: Attend or make up all mandatory safety training sessions.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow Acorn Waste Service’s safe driving program and report any unsafe working conditions immediately to the Operations Manager.
- Other Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

- Valid G driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and safety protocols
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $21.00 per hour
