Overview The Gilbert Plains Co-op is currently seeking an energetic, highly motivated individual to fill the position of Heavy-Duty Mechanic, at the Gilbert Plains Co-op Service Station.

Heavy Duty Mechanic The following position’s primary duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

· Performing basic to immediate mechanical repairs to trucks, trailers, vehicles, and equipment

· Conducting diagnostic procedures to identify the cause of automotive issues and make accurate and effective recommendations

· Conducting necessary repairs and test repaired equipment to ensure work meets quality standards

· Perform Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspections

· Perform preventative maintenance tasks on all vehicles and equipment

· Maintaining knowledge of current industry best practices

· Maintaining paperwork and customer records

· Write work orders and complete safety inspections paperwork

· Ensure all customers needs are met with a high standard of service

· Maintain a clean and secure workplace

· Follow safety procedures and policies

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

· Red Seal Commercial Transport Mechanic

· Positive attitude and teamwork skills

· 2 – 4 years’ experience working on heavy trucks, light vehicles, trailers and/or equipment

· Ability to work as a team or alone with minimal supervision





· Certified to perform commercial Vehicle Safety Inspections

· Valid Class 3 with air required: Class 1 license an asset

· Experience operating a forklift (training can be provided)

- The ability to handle multiple demands at once while still providing an excellent high level customer service
- Must be willing to work overtime as required
