Parsons & Sons Transportation Ltd. is currently seeking a qualified, safety-minded, and dedicated technician to join our maintenance team in Conception Bay South (Seal Cove), NL as a Heavy Equipment / Truck and Transport Mechanic.

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the successful candidate will be a skilled problem solver who is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and hard-working.

Main Responsibilities

- Fleet Maintenance & Repair: Perform regular preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, safety testing, and necessary repairs on school buses and fleet vehicles.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Conduct diagnostic tests as needed to identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues efficiently.
- Record Keeping: Maintain clear, accurate records of all service, repairs, parts used, and work orders completed.
- Safety & Compliance: Assist in the scheduling of vehicle safety inspections and ensure all shop work strictly complies with provincial transport standards and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Shop Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment alongside our shop crew.
- Other Duties: Perform additional shop duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman.

Qualified Applicants Must Have:
- Certification: Hold a Heavy Equipment / Truck & Transport Certification (or equivalent; registered apprentices with strong experience will also be considered).
- Driver’s License & Abstract:



Possess a valid Driver’s License along with a Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract issued by Digital Government Service NL – Motor Registration. (Class 2 and/or air brake endorsement are considered assets).
- Background Clearance: Must submit a clear Police Record Check along with a Vulnerable Sector Query (VSQ) issued by either the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
- Tools & Physical Requirements: Possess and maintain your own hand tools required for the job. Physical effort, dexterity, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs are essential for this role.
- Communication: Ability to communicate clearly in English (oral and written) for safety, operational, and training purposes.
- Attributes: A "can-do" attitude, dependability, a robust commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
