English Tutor – High School

MathWorld Tutoring is looking for a knowledgeable, reliable, and engaging High School English Tutor to join our tutoring team.

The successful candidate will work with students in Grades 8–12 , helping them strengthen their English skills, improve their academic performance, and develop confidence in reading, writing, and literary analysis.

Responsibilities:

- Tutor students in Grade 8–12 English following the BC Curriculum
- Support students with essay writing, paragraph structure, grammar, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and other course material
- Clearly explain concepts and provide constructive feedback on student work
- Help students prepare for assignments, assessments, and exams
- Adapt teaching methods to meet different student learning needs
- Maintain a qualified, patient, and encouraging learning environment
- Communicate with MathWorld Tutoring regarding student progress when required

Qualifications:

- Strong knowledge of high-school English, particularly English 10–12
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of academic essay writing, grammar, literature,



and reading comprehension
- Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred
- Current university students and university graduates are welcome to apply
- Education or academic experience in English, Education, Humanities, or a related field is considered an asset
- Must be dependable, organized, and comfortable working with high-school students

Position Details:

- Part-time tutoring position
- Primarily online/hybrid
- Students are generally taught in small-group or individual settings
- Hours may vary depending on student enrollment and scheduling
- Evening and/or weekend availability may be required
