This position is flexible to work out of our Ottawa, Kingston or Cornwall offices.

The Estimator is the centralized lead in pricing new projects. Working under the direction of the Vice President – Construction, the Estimator coordinates all components of the estimating and tendering process, from document review and quantity take-offs to subcontractor engagement and pricing, bid analysis, and final submission. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical understanding of construction methods and documents, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Candidates should be detail-oriented, organized, confident working with numbers, and the ability to coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams.

This position is full time, permanent and offers both health and retirement benefits following a probationary period. Training and on-going education are provided and encouraged. Duties and responsibilities of the Estimator include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsibilities

- Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and tender documents to determine project scope, identify risks, and establish bid requirements.
- Prepare quantity take-offs, pricing, and cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, general conditions, and subcontracted scopes of work.
- Solicit, review, and level quotations from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing.
- Coordinate bid-period questions, track addenda and tender communications, and help develop bid strategies, pricing assumptions, and preliminary schedules.
- Prepare tender summaries, bid review materials, submission documents,



and participate in estimate closings and final bid submissions.
- Support negotiated and budget pricing, maintain estimating files and historical cost data, and participate in project handoff to field teams following award.
- Other duties as required.

Requirements

- Diploma or degree in a construction related field (Construction/Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, Architectural Technology); CET designation or equivalent is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of estimating experience in ICI construction, preferably with a general contractor.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts).
- Working knowledge of estimating methods, quantity take-off processes, tendering procedures, subcontractor scope analysis, and bid closing practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite (including Excel and Project).
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license with a clear abstract, bilingualism is an asset.

Bourgon Construction is a privately-owned, mid-sized regional ICI construction company offering general contracting, project management and design/build services to clients located across Eastern Ontario. We employ 75 people working out of offices in Cornwall, Kingston and Ottawa. We typically focus on institutional, commercial and multi-residential projects in the $5M to $60M range. Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
