About the Opportunity A practice group working at the intersection of natural resources and Indigenous law is seeking a lawyer to advise on impact benefit agreements and related resource-development negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise Indigenous communities and/or project proponents on impact benefit agreements
- Support negotiations between resource companies and Indigenous communities
- Draft and review IBAs, MOUs, and related commercial agreements
- Advise on consultation and accommodation obligations
- Collaborate with environmental, regulatory, and corporate colleagues on resource projects
Qualifications
- Called to the Bar in Ontario or British Columbia, in valuable standing
- Experience with impact benefit agreements, natural resources, or Indigenous law
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders, including Indigenous community leadership
- Willingness to travel as required
