INSTRUMENTATION DESIGNER – INDUSTRIAL CONSTRUCTION

Role Description:
Matchline Engineering is looking for an Instrumentation Designer to join our Edmonton Industrial Engineering group. This is a contract hourly remote position with a preference for candidates within Edmonton and the surrounding area. The individual will be part of a team supporting our oil, gas, mining and manufacturing clients and the position may require occasional visits to sites.
The position will be contract hourly to start, but there may be future opportunity for a full-time permanent position.
Requirements and Responsibilities:
- C.E.T Registered with ASET or Equivalent Experience.
- 3-5+ years of Industrial Instrumentation Design experience in a consulting engineering environment.
- Develop Instrumentation specifications, datasheets, loop diagrams, termination drawings, cable schedules, layouts, points lists, control philosophies, P&IDs;, control schematics, Panel details, BOMs
- Review and apply industry and client standards and procedures to project designs and deliverables.
- Coordinate with Vendors and Clients for Instrument selections.
- Coordinate Cross-discipline with a project team of engineers and designers.
- Work with client document control to request document revisions and equipment tags.
- Conduct site visits to gather data, take measurements and photos for initial inspections and drawing as-builts.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience selecting and sizing Industrial Process Instrumentation devices for flow, pressure, temperature, level and other analysis.
- Experience with device wiring for communication and power including cable, panel, plc, and dcs device selection.
- Experience with AutoCAD and ability to draft 2D instrumentation drawings including loop diagrams, plans, sections, and installation details.
- Experience with Hexagon SPI/InTools is considered and asset.
- Design experience with Controls, Fire Alarm, Automation, or Gas detection is considered an Asset.
- Must possess excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work in a team workplace.
- Ability to work independently and remotely using MS Teams, Outlook, SharePoint and other digital collaboration tools.
