Business in Vancouver is B.C.’s premier source for business news, analysis and insight. We produce a weekly newspaper, deliver daily online news coverage and publish a large portfolio of industry-focused magazines. BIV is also known for its extensive database of industry info featured in weekly lists, such as Fastest-Growing Companies, Biggest Real Estate Deals and Highest-Paid Executives.
The role
We’re looking for an investigative reporter who has an appetite for in-depth journalism, as well as a track record of developing sources and landing scoops.
Key responsibilities
- Writing in-depth stories for BIV’s newspaper and magazine portfolio.
- Original investigations into B.C. businesses, institutions and public policy using corporate filings, court records, FOI requests and your own data analysis.
- Developing and maintaining industry and government sources.
- Filing breaking news stories for online.
- Working with colleagues on collaborative feature packages.
- Contributing research and editorial insights to annual publications like BC500, Book of Lists and Forty under 40.
Required qualifications
- We are looking for a seasoned journalist with newsroom experience.
- Extensive knowledge of the B.C. business community and provincial politics.
- Exceptional writing and fact-checking skills, as well as legal literacy.
- Expertise in Canadian Press style.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Strong organizational skills for managing both short-term and long-term projects.
- Eligible to work in Canada.

$70,000-85,000 annually

Location
Vancouver. This is a hybrid position in which reporters are in the newsroom Tuesday to Thursday, with the option to work from home Monday and Friday.
